This July, over 300 Grade 7 learners traded their regular classrooms for something a little bigger: a university campus. Numeric’s Maths Camp 2026 brought learners and 41 of our coaches together across three cities, Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town, for a week that mixed serious maths with serious fun, all wrapped up in the excitement of the FIFA World Cup.

Three camps, one big campus moment

Held at three different universities, this year’s camp gave many learners their first taste of campus life. For many of our Grade 7s, just walking onto a university campus is a powerful experience. A glimpse of a future that can feel closer once you’ve actually stood on it.

What learners got up to

Camp days were built around core maths topics, algebraic equations, the geometry of straight lines, and Pythagoras’ Theorem, but the learning didn’t stop at the lesson. Learners went head-to-head in Maths24 and a full Maths Olympics, turning tricky concepts into friendly competition.

They also stepped directly into the World Cup theme, preparing and delivering their own presentations on it. Picking up a bit of geography, some public speaking practice, teamwork, and a healthy dose of presentation confidence along the way.

City highlights

Each city added its own flavour to the week:

• Johannesburg learners explored the Museum of Illusions
• Cape Town learners spent an afternoon at the Cape Town Science Centre
• Durban welcomed a visit from CASME, where learners got hands-on with a coding and robotics workshop
